Jackson, Nola R.
1930 – 2022
With a deep sense of sorrow, our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nola R. Jackson on July 16, 2022 at the age of 92.
Nola was born on March 23, 1930 in Cardston, AB. She learned to love books and literature at an early age, going on to author many original works throughout her life. Both her published and unpublished prose and poetry are her treasured legacy.
Nola’s interests and talents were wide and varied. An avid gardener and a lifelong learner, she achieved her Diploma in Horticulture from Olds College after her children were grown. Anywhere she went, with whomever she was with, she loved educating them on various flowers and plants. She had a remarkable green thumb especially with orchids and irises.
Other interests included classic film and literature – murder mysteries and thrillers were particular favourites. In her younger years she enjoyed participating in live theatre. She made a convincing Fruma Sarah at the Jubilee Auditorium in the production Fiddler on the Roof. She loved good food and could often be found in the kitchen whipping up a delicious meal. Her handmade chocolates were renowned.
Nola charged through life fiercely – she threw herself into everything she did, heart and soul. She was a woman of faith, with a deep belief in God and a great love and knowledge of the Bible especially the people and stories of the Old Testament.
She is survived by her 6 children Laurie, Melanie, Cheryl, Vaughn, Spencer, and Dana as well as 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, siblings and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 2pm at
