Mohr, Isabella Olinda
June 26, 1917 – February 10, 2015

Isabella (Isabel) Olinda Mohr, nee Berg, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2015 in Fort Saskatchewan at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest (Ernie) Arthur Mohr, her parents Rudolph and Elizabeth Berg, and her five older siblings Joan, Dorothy, Joe, Alf, and Della. Isabel is survived by her two children, Joan Carol Johnston and James Arthur Mohr (Isabelle), as well as five grandchildren: Shauna Cameron (Norm), Melanie Zachoda (Miles), Lindsay Mohr, Layne Johnston, and Nicole Meiklejohn (Trevor). She also had eight great-grandchildren: Courtney, Torey, Karli, Bryce, Riane, Tyler, Crue, and Hailey.
Isabel was born June 26, 1917 on a farm near Josephburg, Alberta. Her early years were spent there and later the family moved to a house in Edmonton so the children could be educated in the city. On April 14, 1937 Isabel married Ernie and moved to a farm also near Josephburg. They were married for 49 years before Ernie passed away. Isabel continued to live in her house on the farm until 2009 when she moved to Fort Saskatchewan.
Isabel always loved to play bingo and go to the casino. When she was young, she liked to curl, bowl, dance, and play tricks on people. She was known for her generous spirit and sense of humour. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the recipients of unwavering love and devotion from the lady they called Mom, Gram, and Omi. Isabel will be forever missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Rivercrest Care Centre for their compassionate care and excellent work. They also wish to thank her faithful friends and Pastor Audrey Daley for their attentiveness during Isabel’s last years. A private memorial will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rivercrest Women’s Auxiliary or your favourite charity.
