On November 18th, 2021, Raymond “Allen” Ice of the Edson/Carrot Creek area, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 80.
Allen loved driving the country. When he was 16, he purchased his first big truck and drove on everything from treacherous logging roads all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. He finished up with heavy hauling out of Edmonton and passed along his knowledge to his Irish buddy Mervin (Ashling). Allen held his class one driver’s license to the very end!
With his life-long friend, Clarence (Margie) Bowman by his side, they rode Saddle Bronc on the amateur rodeo circuit. Cowboy shirts, hats, boots, buckles, jeans and vests were always his favourite purchases.
Perhaps his greatest pride in life though was his family. He was the second born to Joe and Fern Ice. Happy (Joe) was 2 years older, followed by Anne, Ted (Linda) and Donna (Albert) Barrass. These were his best friends and shenanigan accomplices, oh the stories that could be and were told.
He married Inis Amanda Quinnell, 1970 and stayed by her side until her untimely passing in 1991. They had Lisa, Ben (Terra), Larry (lost at birth) and Susan (Cory) Johnson. His grandchildren Dylan, Travis, Garret Rogers and their father Doug, Lauren and Audrey Ice, Brianna, Cody and Kaylee Johnson were always his bragging rights.
The loss is immeasurable to his numerous family and friends including his partner, Marlene Lalonde.
