HINKO, Louis Stephen

Louis Hinko of Fort McMurray Alberta, born 1st of October 1959 in Edmonton, passed away unexpectedly on the 10th of August 2018 at the early age of 58.

Louis was known to all as a gentle soul with kind eyes.  Family was the most important thing to him. Happy memories will be cherished by Charlene, his wife of 39 years.  They had four children:  three daughters, Jenny (Graham) Polischuk of Fort Saskatchewan, Alyson (Jon) Bird also of Fort Saskatchewan, Leslie Cartwright of Edmonton and lastly one super-son, Mikel Hinko of Fort McMurray.  He will especially be missed by his five grandchildren: Jacey, Kingston, Amelia, Stella and Neely.  They were the light of his life.

Louis was predeceased by his dad Steve Frank Hinko in 2005 and one beloved granddaughter Winnie Adina Bird just this past year.

He is survived by his mom Gail Hinko, brother Mark (June) Hinko both from Stony Plain and sister Sandie (Andrew) Cole from Melbourne, Australia.  He will also be missed by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as friends and co-workers. Louis’ love of music has been passed on to two generations – his kids and grandkids.  He knew the lyrics to every Beatles song!

The family invites you to join them for a memorial service on Saturday August 18 2018 @2pm at  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 400 McLeod Ave, Spruce Grove.

Instead of flowers, Louis would love if you hugged your family and took them for ice cream!

It was with deep sadness I am writing this after hearing the news of Louis passing. Despite having been many years since I have seen Louis and Charlene, great memories are still there of 2 great friends. One in particular of trip from Ft Mac into BC with the 3 of us, me on my motorbike and them in their car. Not sure how or why that came about but I do remember sharing some great times(and my motorbike) with Louis and Charlene and maybe gave Louis someone to have a beer with at the end of a day at the campsite. 🙂 It goes without saying he will be greatly missed, my condolences to Charlene and family.
Godspeed Louis,
