Helene Gisela Robson (nee Heckmann)

-

On Saturday December 1, 2018 our beloved mother Helene Robson passed away peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer. Helene was a cherished mother, sister, friend, and colleague. She spent her career giving care to sick children and their families in the NICU and PICU at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, as well as to adults in the CCU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Her attention and skill saved lives and provided comfort, and her compassion and astounding knowledge made her a wonderful mentor.

Helene had planned to spend her retirement volunteering with dog rescue organizations, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchild and friends.

Helene was predeceased by her husband and soul mate James Robson.

She is survived by her children Jim (Courteney) Robson, Adrienne (Paul) Crough, and Neil Robson, as well as by her granddaughter Kate Robson, sisters Helga (Nick) Samsom and Barb (Lance) Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ellise Morley for her compassionate and dedicated care, and incredible support. Helene will be forever remembered as a doting and loving mother, a joyful and caring friend, and a compassionate and skilled nurse.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday January 5, 2019 at 11:00 at Richmond Park Church Fellowship 9340 69 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society, The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Helen and John Shea

“Within our hearts, and in our memories, those we love remain with us always.” I have such fond memories of time spent with Helena – dinners, theatre, and at work. She was a knowledgeable/skilled, compassionate, and caring RN for patients of all ages, their families, and her colleagues/student nurses. Goodbye dear friend, you will be missed. To Helena’s family and friends – We are thinking of you and wishing you comfort during this difficult time.

Adrienn, Jim, and Neil our heartfelt condolences to all of you at this difficult and sad time. Your mom was a very special caring and kind friend who always brought joy and gratitude to everyone who crossed paths with her. She taught me many things about leadership when she was an assistant manager in the PICU and I will fondly remember the many life lessons she shared with me. I will miss her dearly.
