Helen Sadako Konno


It is with great sadness, yet joyfulness to announce Helen Sadako Konno has gone to be with our Lord and Savior.  She passed at the Misericordia Hospital August 24, 2018 at the age of 94.

She is survived by her sons Tim (Rose), Brian (Colleen), 5 Grand Children Cynthia, Jonathan, Brandon, Jennifer, Allyson, Sisters Betty Anderson, Dorothy (Kentaro) Doi, Vera Cassel, Verna (Gordon) Moe, and Brother Jack (Sue) Iwabuchi. In-laws Elaine Iwabuchi, Akira Konno, Naozo (Marie) Konno, Ann Konno.

She was predeceased by husband Katsushige, parents Kiyoshiki (father) and Kiyoshi (mother) Iwabuchi, Sisters Kathleen Iwabuchi, Joyce (Robert) Power, brothers Bill (Sophie) Iwabuchi, Robert Iwabuchi.

Helen was born June 25, 1924 in Brandon Manitoba and is the 4th of 10 Children.  The family moved to Taber in 1939 and had a vegetable farm.

Helen married Kats on April 23/1960 where they lived in Milk River, Taber and settling in Vulcan in 1965.

She moved to Edmonton in 2001

She nursed for 27 years with the last 17 at the Vulcan General Hospital.  She loved her friends (always kept in touch), to garden, play games, and just keeping busy.

A Memorial service will be held at Bethel Gospel Chapel 11461 – 95 St, Edmonton, AB, 2:00 pm Tuesday Sept.4/18.

In lieu of flowers donations in Helen’s memory may be made to Bethel Gospel Chapel

I’m so very sorry to learn of Helen’s passing. I worked at the Ottewell Medical Clinic for many years and was fortunate to have Helen, Vera and Gordon as patients.
