Hank Melax, also known as Haukur Melax, was born in Iceland on Feb 24, 1932, and passed away on Nov 4, 2017 at Michener Hill Extendicare in Red Deer at the age of 85.
Hank immigrated to Canada in 1961, and spent a large part of his career as an Associate Professor of Anatomy at the University of Alberta.
He is predeceased by his wife Elsie (Chomay) in 1997.
He will be sadly missed by his sons David (Agnes), Ken (Heather) and Stan (Jean); by his grandchildren Cassandra, Lars, Freya, Erik and Morgan; and by his close friend Ellen Ingolfson and her extended family.
A Memorial Service is planned in Red Deer (Michener Hill Auditorium 2:00 PM) on November 9, 2017, as well as a Funeral and Burial on November 10, 2017 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 11223-51 Avenue, Edmonton at 11:00 am.
