HARTWELL, George William

-

A man that was loved and cherished by everyone. Always a kind word and smile that could melt your heart. He taught us that patience, kindness and hard work is all you ever need to succeed.

He was born in Islay, AB and moved on to Edmonton at a young age. He was a 51 year member of Local 488 working on many major projects around the province.

George passed peacefully in his home on July 30, 2018, predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn. He was a loving father to Tammy (Bob), Dwayne (Ange), Shane (Susan) and Jarrett: grandfather to Nicole (Michael), Jessica, Michael (Courtney), Megan, Jeremy, Haley, Laura and Chris (Kelly); great grandfather to Lily, Aleigh and Sullivan.

He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Sunderland, Joyce Lott, Joe and Kent Hartwell as well as in-laws Alf Berg, Arnold Dykstra and Margaret Hartwell.

He leaves behind siblings Ellen Berg, Doug (Sylvia) Sunderland, Pauline Dykstra, Lenora (Keith) Meadows, Mildred (Roy) Abbott and in-laws Ruth Sunderland and Jim Lott as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will always be thought of as family.

Thank you to Dr. Detorakis, Christine and the team from Harmony Caregiving for the love, care and respect they offered George on his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the near future and notice will be given shortly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT, 10531 Kingsway Ave., Edmonton, AB T5H 4K1 or a charity of one’s choice.
