HALLS, Evelyn Theresa

With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, the family of Evelyn (Evie) Halls announces her passing on October 8th, 2022.

She leaves to mourn, her son David Murtagh and grandchildren: Devon, David, and Alexandrina; sister Nadine Bennett and family; brother Richard Halls (Mona) and family; sister Stella Halls and extended family and friends.

Evie was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Leita Halls.

Evie was born in Edmonton on April 11th, 1965 as a Piikani Nation member of the Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), but was raised in Edmonton until the family moved north when she was 10 years old, to the farm in Dapp Alberta. There she could expand on her true passion, the love of animals. Her talent as a cowgirl grew taking care of her beloved horse Missy Hagen. When the farm was sold, Evie moved back to Edmonton, which she called home, to raise her son and work for the family business.

The family wants to express gratitude to all for their wishes and prayers.

At a future date, to be announced, Evie’s ashes will be spread on the farm and within the Piikani Nation.

I have known Evie since Dapp days, she must have been 13 or so. Evie was like a younger sister to me and we shared a passion for horses. We rode together, hung out, and remained good friends threwout the years. We always tried to visit when we could. It was like time stood still, laughing about old times, sharing life’s struggles and joys. Rest easy my sweet friend, love always Elaine
