On December 19, 2020 our beloved Mom, sister, grandma, and great-grandma, Ieleen Gulliford (nee Reinhart) passed away at the age of 92. She has left behind two daughters, Dawn (Gord) and Debra (Mark), her sister Betty, grandchildren Kyle (Joelle) and Kiera, and four great-grandchildren. Ieleen was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Gordon in 2009, as well as four of her five siblings, Gordon, Mervin, Emery, and Dorothy and her parents, Pearl and Melvin.

Ieleen was born in Wiarton, Ontario. In 1947 she met and married Gordon Gulliford in Woodstock, Ontario and in 1959 moved out west to Edmonton. They bought the Westlock Flower Shop in 1965, and 7 years later a farm in the Dapp area, where they spent the next 11 years. Eventually they made their way to St. Albert in 1994.

Ieleen was known for her smile, laughter, generosity, and her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved music and people, and she was always baking something scrumptious. Ieleen canned her fabulous beets, peaches, carrots, and even Jackfish. She enjoyed working with flowers and often had a needlework project on the go, quilting, cross-stitching, knitting, or crocheting.

Ieleen was a wonderful kind woman, always so friendly to us. I remember a camping trip to Carson Lake that we went on with her & Gordon and mom & dad (Ruth & Cameron Kirk). We had our kids along & she took the time to play many games of Phase 10 with my daughter who was about 8 or 9 at the time.

I remember going fishing to the Skeena river in BC. Our son, Clayton got bitten badly by mosquitoes and ended up in hospital there with a fever. Ieleen bought a beach ball for Clayton to play with which helped him through his misery. We have some pictures of that beach ball and of our adventures. Of course, married to Gord, there were many out door adventures. I recall also a great trip up to Touchwood Lake where we had good fishing,. The Hildes had come up for a visit and we had a wonderful outdoor church service together around the camp fire. Lots of laughter, good stories and fun. I wonder if there is camping in heaven. If there is I’m sure my Mom and Dad will be planning something together with Gord and Ieleen.
Mom & Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary included a ride in a limo driven by Dave Broad. Ieleen and Gordon were along as they went to a dinner theatre together at the Mayfield Inn. Lots and lots of good memories with Ieleen. I know you miss her. We will miss her too.

Dawn, Debbie and families,

We are so sorry for the loss of your mom. The flowers on a regular schedule in Westlock Church of the Nazarene and her contagious smile and laugh did not go unnoticed. Going into the flower shop on the corner with the creaky, squeaky hardwood floors and the aroma of freshly cut flowers springs immediately into mind. Your mom was special to many people.
