GODDARD, John Peter

It deeply saddens us to share the news that our father and loving husband to Catherine Goddard, passed away shortly after ringing in the New Year.

Peter was a man that took every opportunity to live his life to the fullest. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and stories.

Peter was born in Edmonton to Garth and Ernestine (Harris) along with older brother Fraser and younger sister Marjorie Lynn.

Peter met Catherine (Johnstone) in 1968. This year on July 15th would have marked Peter and Cathy’s 50th wedding anniversary. Peter made sure every day that his love for Cathy was known by little love notes, handmade crafts, or simply the best hug and deep laugh. There is no doubt by anyone that he was truly her match made in heaven and will be watching over her and the rest of his family.

This example of love he shared for Cathy was learned and duplicated by their two sons Ryan and his wife Natasha, with five children, Hayley, Carter, Gavyn, Morgan, Hayden; and Philip and his wife Amy with two daughters Reese and Aspen. Peter’s grandchildren idolized him with hearts full of love knowing (Bumpa) could make them laugh and was always ready to help, teach, and spoil.

Peter had a deep passion for outdoor activities. Growing up with close cousin’s tending to weekend ranch duties, his love for fishing, hunting and the lake were a big part of Peter’s life. He graduated from N.A.I.T with a special interest in Finance. This path led him to a 42-year career with Investors Group where his clients became close friends spanning decades.

A celebration of Peter’s Life will be planned for a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter’s name to the Alberta Heart and Stoke Foundation.

“Here he lies where he longed to be;
Home is the sailor, home from sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.”

Dear Cathy have many fond memories of Peter as he was our Investors rep for many years. Had such a crazy sense of humor. Also we all lived in North Millbourne for many years as your boys & my son grew up there. So sorry for your loss. My husband Ben passed away Jan 13 so hopefully he & Peter are up there having a laugh.

I am very saddened to hear of Peter’s passing. I have fond memories of the joking and laughing we did with Peter while visiting the Thompson cabin. I have often told the story of the flying fish which Peter accused Steve and I of throwing at him while while he was at the BBQ and Peter hanging the “watch out for falling fish sign.” I will miss seeing Peter on future visits. My thoughts are with all of the family. Gord

Dear Cathy.
So sad to her of Peters passing. He was always the life of the party and loved his malamutes and visiting mom and dad at Naksala kennels.
Our prayers are with you and your family.

Regards Greg and Juanita.
