Gloria Mildred Hobday (nee Dykeman)

HOBDAY, Gloria Mildred (nee Dykeman)
February 19, 1931 – January 2, 2016

It is with great sadness and much love that our family says goodbye to Gloria Hobday, who passed away to be with her Lord on January 2, 2016 at the Southgate Care Centre at the age of 84. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Stephen W. (Bill), her daughter Kathy (Robert) Longley, and grandchildren Talina, Corbin, Brittania and Maryn and her sister Zella Gilmore and sister-in-law Marie Dykeman. She was predeceased by her sisters Barbara and Dorothy, and brothers Andrew and Wallace.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for Gloria will be held at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church on January 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm.

We are grateful for the exceptional care given to her by Dr. Paul Grewal and the staff at the Good Samaritan Southgate Centre.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s memory can be made to the Good Samaritan Society, the Jemseg Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.

Interment to follow at a later date.

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not be faint.
-Isaiah 40:31

Bill and family – so sorry to hear of Gloria’s passing. You and I were just talking not long ago about Gloria and you visiting with her daily. I remember many years ago when she directed the Junior Choir at Jemseg. One Christmas she gave us all little Bibles and I still have mine. You have so many good memories of Gloria that will keep her alive in your hearts. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Joanne (Gunter) Clingo

Dear Bill, Kathy and family, Please accept our sincere sympathy in your loss of Gloria. She was a beautiful vibrant person who lived life to the fullest. I so enjoyed sharing genealogy with her. I also enjoyed chatting with her when she visited the little Baptist Church in Jemseg. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Sincerely, Carrol & George “Sonny” Thorne
