It is with heavy hearts that we saw our kind, loving, 97 year old Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother leave her own home and family at the time of her passing to find her new home with the Angels.

She leaves to mourn her daughters Betty Glassman (Ron Hepperle), Phyllis (George) Blackwood, Donna (Wayne) Knull, Joyce (Les) Ireland; grandchildren Chris Blackwood (Shirley Davey), Tracy Blackwood (Shea Stewart), Kate Knull, Becky Knull; and great-grandchildren Ben and Jason Stewart; her sister Anna Shumborski; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Ben, parents Fred and Christina Holenko, brothers Steve, George and Walter Holenko, grandson Jeffery Blackwood.

We are so grateful we had her for all these years and will remember her in her latter years sitting on the kitchen couch giving life advice and cooking instructions.

Rest pain free, Mom.

Due to Covid, no Celebration of Life will take place.

Dear Betty, Phyllis, Joyce & Donna, so sorry to hear about your Mom, I still have hazy memories of your Mom arriving in the community and with her warm, friendly personality becoming a true asset. You were lucky to have her for so long. May she rest in peace, her job is done & you are all left to carry on her traditions which I know you will.

Our deepest condolences to all of Mary’s family. May she rest in peace with B en.

All I can say Phyllis is nothing but Thank You to you and your parents for the great times on the farm. growing up. I am a city boy now but I remember growing up, your mom and dad giving my little rabbit his final years living live to roam free 🙂
Stay safe and all the best <3

Betty, Phyllis, Joyce, Donna and families ….
Such sad news about your Mum’s passing. She was such a central figure, not only in your lives but in that of many others.
I well remember all the happy occasions spent at the farm – birthdays, wedding anniversaries, raspberry picking and even camping out in the back 40 when the kids were little.
I truly felt I was included in your family so this is also a great personal loss to me.
I hope you derive comfort in knowing that you gave the best possible care to both parents in their lifetime and especially with end of life care. They raised 4 exceptional daughters with strong moral and work ethics. Mary’s spirit has been passed on to you and will continue to pass on through future generations.
Goodbye Mary – I hope you’ve reunited with Ben in the great big yonder and are happily playing Bingo and scratching game cards.
It was an honour and a privilege to have known you.
May you Rest In Peace

Betty and Don McDougall (de Milliano)

We extend our deepest sympathies to your family. Mary was a remarkable person and her legacy will live through all of you. I am blessed with so many warm memories including her warm smile and kind words as she would often fill us with baking and delicious donuts. Memories of coming off the bus and seeing her tend to her garden. Memories of blueberry picking and her stocking her canning pantry. We always received a warm welcome and she was always eager to share a cup of sugar or advice. So grateful to be raised next door to this amazing person. Sending hugs and condolences.. Don and Betty McDougall (de Milliano)
