It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Raymond Salmon at Beaumont, Alberta on January 26, 2016 at the age of 82 years.
Gerry is survived by two brothers, Les and Terry; six children, Keith, Ken, Karen, Greg, Colleen, and Shaun; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife Carol, and his brother Doug. Gerry spent his final weeks enjoying the comfort and company of family and friends.
Born in Skipton, Yorkshire, Great Britain in 1933, Gerry arrived in Canada in 1959. He enjoyed two distinct careers, first as a soldier with the British and later Canadian armies, and then as a director with the Calgary District Hospital Group. He and Carol eventually retired to their dream home in Blind Bay, British Columbia, and made many good friends during their time there.
The family would like to thank the Leduc Home Care and Palliative Care staff for their kindness and compassion during Gerry’s final days.
Gerry was a proud veteran, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion or the Canadian Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date. An announcement will folloow prior to the service.
