GARBUTT, Vicky Georgia

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Vicky Georgia Garbutt of Edmonton Alberta, our dear wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on February 18, 2022.

Vicky met Warren Garbutt when they were 14 years old, and they have been together for 68 years. They were married on September 5, 1959. They travelled the world together. They raised three sons: Ron (Julie Clayton Coleton), Greg (Vivienne Bailey Cassie Brookie), and Tim (Darcy Megan Ryan).

Vicky loved her 7 grandchildren. She did so much babysitting, and Friday night sleepovers became a staple. Nana was always up to date with their lives. She had many dear friends through years of gourmet group, golf ladies league, McDonald’s coffee, gyrettes and churches (Dayspring Presbyterian, Riverbend United, Onoway Baptist) and at work at Laidley property management.

She was born to parents Birdie Fries and James Fries, on May 24, 1939, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Vicky’s passing is also mourned by her sister Rhonda (Brad) and niece Jill (Chris Cassie Hailey).

A Christian Celebration of Life is scheduled for March 3, 2022, at 7:30 pm at The Derrick Golf Club, 3500 119 Street NW. Please RSVP to Vivienne at [email protected] or (780) 909-6472. What the heart remembers most are moments shared❤️ I’ve admired Vicky since the time she met her trumpet player in the MJJB. I can write the same was true for My sweet Dennis. Warren and Vicky drove us on our first date to the Swing Inn
And in 1966 stood with us as we married. There was never a prettier bride than Warrens. Vicky and Warren remained deeply committed to each other and to their boys. Love leaves a memory no
One can steal but these are “hours of lead”. Sending sympathy to The family. We too will miss your Vicky.

Warren and family. So hard to express my heartfelt sympathy. We’ve been best friends since we were both 12. Distance never kept us from picking up like no time had passed when we found time to get together. So many memories: Moose Jaw junior band and our many trips; surprise wedding showers and the honor of being bridesmaids in each others weddings. Then the children game along – 3 boys for each of us and still found time for some camping trips. You will be sorely missed my friend. Give Doug a hug until we meet again.

Paul and Diane Hansen
