GANGL, Mary Rita Lois

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother after a brief illness. We were grateful for the excellent quality of care she received at The Grey Nun’s Hospital, and that we were able to be there with her right up to the end.

Mary (Lois) will be lovingly remembered by her son Dan, and her daughter Susan. She is also survived by her sister Margery Hall, her sisters-in-law Jean Lavell, Cathy Forest, and Marg Gangl, brother-in-law Ted Schmidt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her husband Bernie, her parents Edgar and Mary Lavell, her sister Doris O’Neill, and most recently her brother Eugene Lavell.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 10555 – 50 A Street, Edmonton at 11:00 a.m. Father Philip Creurer officiating.

In Lois’ memory, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.

I was very saddened to hear of Aunt Lois’s passing. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you Dan and Susan. May your memories of your Mother provide you with some solace during this difficult time. May she rest in peace. Know that part of her is with you always. I am sure that your Dad, my Dad, and Aunt Doris welcomed her with open arms on the “other side”.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Dan & Susan. Although she was not my aunt by blood, I always called her Auntie Lois, as she was my godmother. Your dad & my dad were school buddies. We have many fond memories of her, but most especially our time at the Pigeon lake fish fries. Her contribution was always several fantastic hand-crafted pies, and her peach pies were the best! May she rest in peace now, and be reunited with her love, Uncle Bernie.
