FROM, Judy Diane

Judy passed away peacefully in her sleep in Edmonton, Alberta at the age 79 years following a brief but difficult struggle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She frequently expressed appreciation to family, caregivers and friends for their caring and support along the way. Throughout her illness, she maintained her interest in living and her wry sense of humour.

Judy was the last surviving member of a family of five children born to parents of Swedish ancestry. Judy was a teacher and taught at a number of schools in the Edmonton area until she became a full-time homemaker after the birth of her children. She was co-founder of Trailers Unlimited and she was instrumental in the success of this trailer manufacturing company. The legacy of Trailers Unlimited continues through her son, Randy.

Judy enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, reading and listening to music. In later life she looked forward to playing crib at a neighborhood seniors centre, visiting with friends at the condo complex where she resided and participating in aqua fit classes at the pool. Judy fondly recalled travel to Sweden and various destinations in Europe.

Judy is survived by her children Randy From, Carla (Richard) Papp and grandchildren Magnus and Arabella. She was predeceased by her life partners Gilberto Raposo in 2012 and Fred Piper in 2018. Judy will be missed by a host of friends and relatives.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Serenity Funeral Services – North Chapel, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 am.

Memorial donations to honour Judy can be made to the ALS Society of Alberta.
