FORGRAVE, Thomas David

Tom Forgrave, from Edmonton, AB passed away Monday from cancer at the age of 80. Tom grew up in Georgetown, ON. While earning his Theology Degree from University of Toronto, he headed to Thorsby, AB for a summer internship. It was there that he met his wife of 56 years, Margaret (Andrews). After Tom became an ordained minister, they moved to Mayerthorpe, AB where he took on a large regional pastoral charge with the United Church of Canada. In 1970 Tom switched career paths, joining the City of Edmonton. He held several positions with the city, his last position being Intergovernmental Affairs Officer. The last stage of his public service career was with the Province of Alberta. He retired in 1995 in the role of Assistant Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs. In 2003 he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from St. Stephens College. Throughout his professional career and into retirement, Tom was an active volunteer with various organizations.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Margaret; son Rob (Shawna) of Edmonton; son Dan (Anna Keaschuk) of Doha, Qatar; granddaughter Macy and grandson Ethan of Edmonton; brother Peter (Laraine) Forgrave of Haliburton, ON; brother Doug (Nancy) Wrigglesworth of Newmarket, ON; Marg’s sister Gwen (Robert) Moggey & brother Rodney (Jacqueline) Andrews and many close nieces and nephews. Tom was pre-deceased by his brother Bob (Phyllis) Wrigglesworth of Murrells Inlet, SC.

Memorial service will be held at Grace United Church on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 2:00pm. Unfortunately, due to Covid Protocols, in person attendance will be limited to invitees only. The service will be available for live stream at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYT7kOJnaUlrHSVBQJPA6Ng.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Grace United Church in Edmonton (6215 104 Ave NW), where Tom and Marg have been active members for over 40 years.
