FAST, Helen

Helen Fast was born in Orlaff, Paraguay, South America on January 18, 1937. She entered into her Lord’s presence at the age of 83, on December 1, 2020, after a long and difficult battle with osteoarthritis and dementia.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Reinhold, two loving daughters (Joyce and Ruth) and Joyce’s husband, Loyd. Three loving grandchildren (Timothy, Rebekah and Kira) also miss their much loved grandmother.

Helen’s only sister, Elizabeth Kornelson and sister-in-law Elizabeth Wiens (her late brother Abe’s wife) also survive Helen.

Helen’s two younger brothers with their wives (Ernie and Linda as well as Erwin and Lorraine) also survive her. Two older brothers (Abe and Jake) and Jake’s wife (Louise) predeceased her.

Helen accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of ten. She and Reinhold both attended a small Bible school in Coaldale, Alberta. This is where the Wiens family had settled when they moved to Canada in 1948.

After Bible School graduation, Helen enrolled in nurse’s training in Lethbridge, for the three year RN program.

Helen and Reinhold were married in 1962.

Helen loved her Lord and served Him faithfully with her husband, as missionaries on a First Nations reserve, for many years. She also worked as an RN at the Wetaskiwin hospital, part-time, for a number of years.

Reinhold and Helen moved to the Millwoods Shepherd’s Care Manor in 2018. A move to the Long Term Care facility was necessitated for Helen in January 2020 as her condition deteriorated.
