On Friday, December 30, 2016 Ethel Eileen Janke of Alder Flats, Alberta passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital at the age of 70 years. Ethel was born in Magrath, Alberta to Ethel and Gene Seely; she was one of eight children. For the majority of her life, Alder Flats was home. She and her late husband, Carl Janke enjoyed life on the farm and together they raised their three boys. Ethel will forever be lovingly remembered by her children, Danny (Corinna), Calvin and Larry (Ginger); grandchildren, Justin (Annie), Christina, Nicholas, Melissa, Julie and Vincent and great-grandchildren, Becca, Gunner, Cohen, Hope and one more on the way! The loss of Ethel will also leave a great void in the lives of her siblings, Doyle, Dalven, Beverly and Dallas, along with their families and other extended family and friends. Ethel is predeceased by her parents, Gene and Ethel Seely; husband, Carl Janke and three brothers, J.L., Melvin and Larry. Ethel’s life was celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #267, Alder Flats, Alberta. The family of Ethel Janke is extremely grateful to the staff at University of Alberta Hospital for their kindness, compassion and professionalism shown to them during Ethel’s time there.
