Ernst Eckert
October 14, 1930 – May 23, 2017
Ernst Eckert passed away peacefully at the Leduc Hospital at the age of 86 surrounded by his Family.
He leaves behind his loving wife Johanna Eckert of 58 years, and children, Marcella (Bernward) Drobig of Leduc, Chris (Gwen) Eckert of Edmonton and six grandchildren. Jonathan & Vanessa Drobig, Kathleen, Matthew, Kristen and Jeffrey Eckert as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland, Germany and Canada. Ernst came to Canada in 1966 from Germany to start a new life with his wife and children. He settled in Leduc, and started his career as a carpenter. Ernst devoted his life to his family and his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. Ernst is predeceased by his parents Adolf & Olga and his brothers and sisters of Germany.
Prayer services will be held on June 2 at 7pm in Leduc at Serenity Funeral Home, 4702 51 Ave, Leduc, Ab. Funeral services will be held in Edmonton on June 3 at 11 am at St. Boniface German Catholic Parish at 9510 101 Ave followed by a luncheon at 12 pm. After the luncheon, Ernst will be laid to rest at the Leduc Municipal Cemetery at 6107 43 Street, Leduc, Ab. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ernst to a charity of one’s choice.

On Tuesday, May 23 the most amazing man that I had the privilege to call Dad passed away surrounded by his loving family. Over the past week, the outpouring of support from both family & friends has been overwhelming. I still can’t believe that he is gone but I know that with everyone’s support I will come to peace with this over time. Thank you again to everyone.
