ERISMAN, Haddie (Ratke)
January 1, 1938 – November 21, 2016
With great sadness, the family of Haddie Erisman announces her passing at the age of 78 years.
Haddie was born of German heritage in Sujkowek, Poland. After the death of her father, she emigrated in June 1951 with her mother, four sisters, and three brothers, to a new home in Canada.
Throughout her life, she loved baking, cooking, and homemaking. She designed flower and craft arrangements for a popular show and sale held annually at her home in Bearspaw. She worked for many years as a sales associate at Mappins, Forest of Jewels, and King’s Fine Jewelry, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and loyal customers.
Haddie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, David, her three daughters, Heidi Erisman, Kathy (Marco) Adria, and Carmen (Jesse Cox) Erisman, and five grandchildren, Liesel Bienert, Laura (Joel) Lafortune, Emily (Nolan Boucher) Bienert, Joel Adria, and Benjamin Sabin.
She leaves behind brothers Helmut (Hedwig) Ratke and Art (Julia) Ratke, sisters Meta Ceretzke, Emily Roth, and Ellie Sperber, many beloved nephews and nieces, and her dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Julianne and Wilhelm, sister Eugana, brother Widemar, and brothers-in-law Philip Roth and Clarence Ceretzke.
Friends, neighbours in Bearspaw, healthcare professionals, homecare workers, Pastor Jason, and the Trinity Lutheran community – Thank you. You have been a great comfort to the family.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 28, 2016, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 5311 – 91 Street, Edmonton. Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 10014 – 81 Avenue, Edmonton. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta, 5418 – 97 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5C1.
