James & Susan Conway

Michelle and Family,

Our deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. There are no words that will help heal your pain in the loss of Eric. I have many fond memories of Eric over the past years from when we met in Fort St John to our many phone conversations over the years to follow. I admired his dedication and work ethic, and yes of course his whit always brought a chuckle.

James and Susan Conway.

Patricia Sauder

Eric and I drove from Edmonton to Jasper and back in his sports car the day before his sister Diana’s wedding. We both had sun burnt faces in the wedding pictures. What a fun day it was!!

Randy Ottenbreit

Michelle, Shannon and Stephanie,

We were shocked and stunned to hear of Eric’s passing. And while it leaves us asking “Why?” your openness and strength in the face of tragedy is a model for all of us. When our paths crossed in Norman Wells and then again in Calgary, we learned there was much about Eric to be admired – his intelligence, hard work, quick wit, and fun-loving nature. His face lit up whenever he was able to make people laugh – which was often!! Another life-long memory of Eric was his love for you, Michelle – the two of you were inseparable. May Eric live on in Shannon and Stephanie.

Thinking of you all,

Randy and Marjie Ottenbreit

Marilyn Hunter (Dolphin)

He touched our lives in so many ways!

Jeremy

I worked with Eric for a few years over 10 years ago now. I remember him for a couple of things: how happy he was and how willing he was to mentor the younger engineers in the group. He will be missed.

Diane

To Michelle and all the family our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

It has been an honour, a privilege, fun and laughter knowing Eric, a true gentleman in every sense.

Love from Diane and Lawrence in the UK.

Russ

Michelle, our thoughts are with you, Shannon, Stephanie and the grandkids. A very caring person with his own style, Eric made our days so much more fun and had just the right knack for lifting our spirits. Whether we were singing, dancing or cheerleading to the Exxon Corporate song at the office, swapping jokes or simply relaxing with a brew the times with Eric always were special. Thanks for the the fun times, Eric; you’ll always be with us.

TL and Don Jordan

Michelle, first off a big hug to you, and then another. You and Eric will always be walking hand-in-hand… always… in our thoughts, in our memories, and in our prayers.

Eric taught me a valuable lesson one day to “stop and smell the roses”. I was in a rush to be somewhere important (yes it was so “important” that I can no longer remember where it was I was going). I got in the elevator at FAP with him, and he just knew he was going to make my day… his eyes had a glint to them as he pressed every single button in the elevator, so I could stop and smell the roses on the way down – 20 some odd floors. It was a perfect lesson in pausing to enjoy the spaces in between.

It goes without saying if there is anything we can help you out with… we’d be honored to do that… please tell us how.

With love and friendship, T-L and Don Jordan

Oh yes! i remember the corvette. One day Eric insisted that I should drive it.i was a bit nervous but he gave me courage. Next thing I recall HE was the nervous one and we did>t crash and had alot of laughs and FUN.

Can’t believe Eric is gone Michelle. He was so full of life and so good to be around. I can’t think of anyone who was more sensitive to the needs of others. He would pick up our spirits every time just by walking into a room with that big smile and some of those famous ‘one-liners’. We share your sense of loss Michelle, and hope you can find some peace in coming days.

I will always remember the big Halloween parties that he used to host. I used to come over when my sister was playing with Steph and sneak a peak at his large playboy collection. When I was a kid I would get so excited when he would pull the cover off his black corvette and let me look at it
