Ena Mary Peters

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the Ena Peters (nee Loder) of Edmonton, Alberta announces her untimely passing on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the age of 72. Born on November 1, 1943 in St. Lawrence, NFLD , she was the daughter of Leo and Lillian Loder.

She is survived by and leaves to mourn her husband, Rich of 53 years and their 7 children – daughters Pam White, Sandra (Ross) Fry, Cherie (Dave) Schneider, Diane Barilko, Karen (Bob) George and sons Rick Peters and Jim (Crystal) Peters; and their 16 grandchildren – Hannah and Rebecca White; Tom and Bob Fry; Caitlynn, Victoria (†), Robbie and Adam Schneider; Alexandra, Madison and Elizabeth Barilko; Tim, Cindy, Shaina and Matthew George; and Tony Peters; her sisters Aundrietta (Norbert) Strang, Julie Loder, Betty Bishop, Marion Jean Loder; brothers Jack (Toni) Loder, Jim (Lisa) Loder and Leo (Geraldine) Loder, and other family members including sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews fortunately too many to list. She was predeceased by parents Lillian and Leo Loder, sisters Pauline Slaney, Leone Fitzpatrick and Julia Loder; brothers Richard Loder, Dan Loder & Ted Loder and grandchild Victoria.

Family was the most important thing in Mom’s life and she made many sacrifices to ensure our happiness. When there was a crisis in our lives, she was always our rock we could depend on. She had a wonderful sense of humour and took great pleasure in playing board games or cards with her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband Rich for 53 years. Together they showed all of us what commitment truly is. She was a much loved sister who treasured her siblings and loved sharing memories of their growing up together in St. Lawrence. Most of all, her greatest joy and achievement was watching her grandchildren grow into the amazing people they are and knowing that she played a part in their lives. This will be her greatest legacy. Mom was the heart and soul of the Peters family and will be dearly missed.

Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service celebrating Mom’s life will be held at the Woodvale Facility and Golf Clubhouse, 4540 50 Street, Edmonton, on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted with the Children’s Heart Society or The Edmonton Epilepsy Association.
