Elsie Roset

-

On January 15, 2014, Elsie (Elza) Roset was received into the loving arms of her Jesus at the age of 86 years. She was born Elsie Jabs on May 18, 1927 in Poland. She was an infant when the Jabs family immigrated to Canada, settling in Churchbridge, SK. While attending Bible College in Moose Jaw, she met her husband Iver Roset. They married on June 11, 1947 and spent over fifty years in pastoral ministry with a decade spent serving the AB, NWT District Superintendent’s Office for the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.

Upon retiring Iver and Elsie lived in Sherwood Park, moving to Edmonton shortly before Iver passed away in November 2012. Elsie spent her life serving her Lord. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched with her love, wisdom, humour and wit. Although she was humble in spirit, her cooking and hospitality were legendary and she regularly welcomed friends and strangers into her home. She was the ever supportive pastor’s wife, loving mother to her three children, Oral (Joy) Roset, Maureen (Dennis) Scraba and Arlene (Harvey) Trauter, and a blessing to all who knew her. She treasured her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She joins in her eternal home her husband Iver, her first child Lucille, who lived only a few days, her brothers Arthur and Leonard Jabs and her parents Edmund and Olga Jabs.

The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Mill Woods Assembly, 2225-66 Street, Edmonton with Rev. Harvey Trauter and Rev. Ken Bombay officiating (private family interment).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amigo Relief Missions towards a project in her memory. Serenity Funeral Service entrusted with arrangements.

Rev. Murray Coughlan

The thoughts and prayers of Gospel Centre Church are with the family at the home going of Elsie Roset. She will be remembered fondly for her ministry along side her husband in our church many years ago. As well, just prior to my becoming pastor of Gospel Centre 12 years ago, Ivar and Elsie returned to become the interim pastors for four months and did such a splendid job in preparing the church for their new pastor. Both Ivar and Elsie will be also remembered in the Coughlan family as having a tremendous influence on my grandparents and parents in years past. Although I will be unable to attend the funeral due to another critical appointment, we do want you to know that Elsie was deeply loved and appreciated by all of us.
