Else Dietrich (née Lucius) passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years. Else was predeceased by her husband Gustav, her parents Robert and Alvine Lucius, and her siblings Lena, Erica, Fred, Tillie, and Olga. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Helmut (Inez) Lucius, children, Ingrid (Irvin) Roth, Herb Dietrich, Gord (Angie) Dietrich and five grand children, Annette Roth, Shelley (Chris) Neilson, Julianne (Victor) Symons, Michael (Danica) Dietrich, and Jessica Dietrich, one great grandchild, Edwin Symons, as well as nieces and nephews. Else was born in Wolhynien (Poland) and came to Canada in 1952. Her pilgrimage with God carried her through many trials during World War II as well as struggles adjusting to her new country of Canada after the war. She was known for her large garden and its many apple trees from which she shared the bounty of the harvest in the form of fresh apples and homemade apple juice with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and prepared innumerable meals for us, always showing a spirit of great hospitality and generosity to her guests. Unfortunately, in the last three years Else’s health issues forced her to slow down and then finally retire from the work that she loved. She finally had time to tell us the stories of her life. Her last two weeks on this earth were spent at the Grey Nuns Hospital. We would like to thank Dr. Tran and especially nurses Heidi and Nicole on Unit 51 for their compassionate care. The funeral will take place at Evangelical Fellowship Church, 10511-79 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Evangelical Fellowship Church.
