Elizabeth Grace Scherger


Elizabeth was born on April 18, 1921 on the family farm near Cosine, Saskatchewan, she died peacefully on May 13, 2018 with her family by her side at Sherwood Care, Sherwood Park, Alberta. She married Jack Scherger on November 19, 1946 and together they had 5 children. After Jack’s death in 1962 she moved to Macklin, Saskatchewan until 2009 when she moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta to be closer to her family.

Elizabeth worked at the Villa in Macklin for 13 years as a Personal Care Attendant. Her passion was gardening, baking and preserving.  She knitted slippers for everyone and loved to crochet. She enjoyed watching sports especially football and curling.  She was an avid “Roughrider Fan.” She lived a happy and long life with good health guided by her strong faith. She was always kind, loving, and compassionate.

Elizabeth will be forever loved and sadly missed by her children; Marlene (Max), Gerald (Rosemarie), Gordon (Wendy), Melvin (Carol), and Darlene; her grandchildren:  Brian (Charlene), Carly, Colton, Chylo, Jody (Russ), Jaimy (Nathan), Tina, Aaron; and her great grandsons Grayson and Jackson her pride and joy.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Stanley and Theresa Reichert, and her 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff at Sherwood Care, who cared so much for Mom during her time there.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish, 13 Brower Drive, Sherwood Park, AB, Reverend Joe Glaab officiating.
