Ardath, my heart always warms in thoughts of you and Pastor Herman. You both made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. I treasured your example of Christian faith and a Christ-centered marriage. Thank you. My prayer for you and your family is that God hold you so close to His heart that you feel His very breath on your face – always. Much love, DeeDee

Herman was pastor at Central when I first knew the Effas, and I stayed with him and Ardath while I was candidating for missions when they lived in Illinois. They were always kind and gracious, and I will remember their goodness to me always. I am happy that Herman is with his Lord – yet extend my sincere condolences to Ardath and the rest of the family. You will be in my prayers. God be with you, comfort you, and give you peace.

Marlene and I came to know the Effas while pastoring Napier Parkview Baptist Church in Benton Harbor Michigan (1986-98). Herman was a former pastor of Napier, and was serving in the Missions Department of NABC. We have the highest of respect for Herman and Ardath and their ministry. I always felt warmly accepted by the Effas. They were a joy to know, and faith models to follow. Herman has the joy of the face to face presence with Jesus Christ His Lord whom he faithfully served.
