It is with much sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our mother Dusti Rose Roy (née Theresa Annabelle MacMillan) of Edmonton, Alberta on December 10, 2015. Dusti was born July 6, 1941 in Anzac, Alberta to parents Florence (née Woodward) and Peter, she was the second of seven children. As a child, Dusti’s eyesight was failing due to a degenerative hereditary condition called Retinitis pigmentosa. Dusti’s struggle during the transition to complete blindness was very difficult for her, though this did not stop her. Dusti’s trust and love of Jesus, love of life and the love for her children was pivotal to her overcoming any obstacle. As a single mom, Dusti was tenacious when it came to the needs of her (own and sometimes others’) children and made sure that whatever was needed – was provided. She stood up for herself and others when it was not popular to do so, and sometimes to grim consequences. When this happened, she would receive advocacy of journalist crusader Eddie Keen. Dusti also liked to express her individuality with her eclectic fashion sense. Dusti was predeceased by her parents and three brothers; Johnny, Glenn and Ernest. Leaving to mourn are; siblings; Gary (Lynn), Gordon, and Gloria. Children; Barry (Arlene), Wade (Chris), Cheryl, Roberta and Dale Ann (Elwood). Dusti also leaves many grand and great-grandchildren, as well as other family members and friends too numerous to name. Funeral service to take place at Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 10:30 with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to “Little Warriors” can be made.
