Dr. Kevin Bruce Quast

-

With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Kevin Bruce Quast on May 25, 2017, at the age of 59.

His memory will be cherished by his loving family: wife, Sandra Quast; daughter Kira (Christopher) Gray; son Graham (Adrienne) Quast; three grandchildren: Ryker Gray, Merrick Gray, and Maeryn Quast; parents: John and Olive Quast; siblings: Tamra (Tom) Davison, Colin (Allison) Quast, Keith Quast and Leanne (Dallas) Quast.

Kevin was one of the most intelligent and gifted individuals any of us had the pleasure of knowing. He had a passion for teaching. He impacted and influenced countless lives during the years he practiced as a Professor of the New Testament and as Pastor of several churches. Many of his students entered Ministry and continue to share God’s word. He had a keen passion for adventure and led his friends and family into many an adventure, most of which we are surprised to have survived. In addition to playing his Martin, Kevin loved to spend his free time riding horses and giving support and assistance to his family and friends in any way he could. His contributions to our lives will be sorely missed.

In life, Kevin was the most generous of people and he wished to continue that in death. Kevin insisted that any of his body that could be used to help others should be donated. He wished to be cremated.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 22550 Township Rd 530, Sherwood Park, AB. Memorial donations in Kevin’s honour may be made to: The Mustard Seed, 10635 – 96 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5H 2J4, www.theseed.ca.

While I did not know Kevin, as a friend of Leanne from years back I would like to extend my deep condolences to your whole family for your pain and loss. May the God of all comfort meet you in every aspect of your sorrow, in beautiful and personal ways, great and small.

Rebecca & Andy DesRoches

Our paths crossed many times with Kevin and Sandy… in Edmonton during my family’s sojourn in Alberta when the Quast family accepted us as if we were family, during the Acadia years when I looked up to Sandy and Kevin as a young Div couple in love, in Toronto while studying at OTS, and then later in Prince Edward Island; our summer resting place. Kevin had such an endearing kindness and friendliness that was infectious. He always took time to check in on us and made us feel remembered. We are so sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing and send our sincerest prayers to Sandy and family. May the memories of the good things give you an enduring consolation in the adjustment to this loss to your family. Blessings! Rebecca & Andy

Dear Sandra and family, we were sorry to learn of the death of Kevin. We recall our times together at Acadia Divinity College and later when he pastored in Atlantic Canada. We are grateful that the Lord Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me though he die yet shall he live.” John 11:25 We are remembering you in prayer.

Kevin was a pastor at First Baptist Church some years ago. He was a very talented, fun loving and caring man. Kevin gave me an opportunity to come to know Christ through a baptism class I took while he pastored there. May his family have Gods comfort in their time of need. Heaven has another angel❤️

Sandy Finlayson, Westminster Theological Seminary

I had the honour to serve with Kevin on the faculty at what was then Ontario Theological Seminary and is now Tyndale University College & Seminary. I will always be thankful for the opportunity I had to work with Kevin.

I pray that the Lord will strengthen and sustain his family at this time.

I only met Kevin a few times through his connection to the EPS. He had a gentle way about him and a kindness you could sense immediately. He has obviously touched many souls and will be a great guardian to his loved ones. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Colin and Allison, I’m thinking of you with love and sending healing hugs your way.

I had the honor to be Kevin’s classmate for a couple of years at North American Baptist College. I had been out of college for a couple of years for lack of funds. Kevin had started during that time so that we were more or less in the same time frame when I returned. Kevin was a dedicated student and was certainly one of my classmates who helped push me to finish with a good standing in our graduating class. I got to know him and his parents better when I served for a time as youth pastor at Braemar Baptist Church, his home church. After he and Sandra married and had children, My wife Marj and I were able to visit them in their Edmonton home several times. These were always fun visits. I was able to follow Kevin’s career to some extent even though we ended up living many miles apart. His career was impressive indeed. A good and kind friend, never to be forgotten.

May the Lord be with you and your family at this most difficult time. Praying God comfort and strength. I remember Kevin very well as we were students at ADC. Great sense of humour and passion for the Lord.
