Donna Mae Gervais

-

Mrs. Donna Mae Gervais, surrounded by the love of her family, passed away at the Drayton Valley Hospital on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the age of 71 years. Donna’s fight against cancer was long, yet extremely courageous. She was born in Calgary and grew up in the Crossfield area on the family farm. In 1964, Donna married Lawrence and in their 50 years of marriage, they raised three children and were blessed by four grandchildren. Donna was a true caregiver; always ensuring the needs of others were met before hers. Her twenty years of nursing at the Drayton Valley Hospital was evidence of her love of others. Donna will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by her husband, Lawrence; children, Miles, Michelle (Shane) and Nicole, grandchildren, Bryce (Brittney), Brody, Kade and Elle; sisters, Kay Johnson and Diane (Les) Madsen; many extended family and numerous friends made throughout the years. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Helen Dunsmore. The Gervais family wishes to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Drayton Valley Hospital for the wonderful care provided to Donna over the years. Donna’s beautiful life will be celebrated at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #269, 5204 51 Avenue, Drayton Valley on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In honour of Donna, memorial donations may be made directly to Drayton Valley Health Services Foundation (Palliative Care or CT4DV), 4550 Madsen Avenue, Drayton Valley, AB. Audrey and Brian Aitken

Many are the happy memories of times spent on the Dunsmore farm with my cousins. The bond that formed between us was strong making it easy to connect no matter the length of time or distance between us.I was honored and proud to be a bridesmaid for Lawrence and Donna and to be witness to their everlasting love. She was a beautiful bride.Donna’s smile and twinkle in her eyes ( a bit mischievious) could light up a room and set you at ease. Donna’s choice of a career in nursing well suited her personallity…strong, patient, wise, caring and compasionite. Her love for her family was steady and undaunting. She was so proud of them. To Lawrence , Miles, Michelle(Shane), Nicole and the grandchildren hold tight to your memories and be eager to share them, hopefully they will bring you comfort and help you through this most difficult time. Donna will forever be in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy. Love Audrey and Brian

Fran & Bill Hiebert

Bill and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all who loved Donna, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone, except maybe about the people who went speeding past their place or played their music too loud late at night. Her love of her family was always first and foremost in her heart. Donna always put the needs of those around her first, always there to listen to everyone else problems, seldom sharing hers. I remember shopping trips to Edmonton and Bill and I having countless cups of coffee with her and Lawrence. Donna left a legacy of kindness and love we should all carry in our hearts and try to follow. Rest in Peace Dear Friend….

Donna – as long as I have known you, you have been a loving person to all. You were especially devoted to Lawrence and your children Michelle, Miles, and Nicole – and your grandchildren Bryce, Kade and Elle. You always were vibrant, appeared full of energy even when you were battling cancer and it was wearing you down. And I loved your perpetual warming smile. You will always be remembered with love. RIP dear one.
