From all the smith family in Fort McMurray we send our sincere condolences to all the Don Spracklin family . Don and I worked together in the Mildred lake shop for many years, he was magic when parts were needed desperately to keep the huge tractors running, he was a awesome to work with and always had a smile , it will be difficult getting over this sad time. What a privelage it has been for us knowing Don for 18 years. When we adopted Paige into our family, Don and Peggy adopted our whole family into theirs. Both our girls were blessed to have another loving Grandfather in their lives.
Always happy and fun to be around , Don was a true family man. We will miss his corny jokes, upbeat personality and wonderful demeanour.
Don always had a way of making us feel welcome and part of the family. He loved to see everyone get together and have fun.
It’s a huge blow to lose both special people, in such a short period of time., but knowing Don found Peggy and they are together again, brings us comfort.
Grandpa Don
We’re sad you’re gone,
But in our hearts you will live on❤️
Love Paige, Kirsten, Paul and Laurie Hansen

I would like to start by saying that we as a family are so sorry for your families loss. I can’t imagine how it feels to have lost both of your parents and mentors within such a short time. God has many ways of looking after people, some he needs to help him build the promise land and some he needs here to continue building a wonderful place on earth. All we can do is continue doing the right thing and pass on all the things we have learned and remember from our parents and influence others to be as wonderful as you and your father.
I had the pleasure of working with Don starting in May of 2006 until he retired from Finning not long ago. From his funky filing systems to his hilarious antidotes quips and creative answers. Don and I were lead hands on cross shift at Mildred lake and of coarse it goes without mention that we looked after the undercarriage department and what ever other fires we had to put out in the parts department. Don was a social butterfly and we used to call him the ambassador of the parts department as he made his rounds to visit everyone on shift and sometimes off shift he would just wander in and have a couple coffees and catch up on the gossip. Never before have I met such a a character and never will I forget how happy he always was to see everyone. God speed in your journey to recovery with your family. Grieve in happiness as well as sad because you are supposed to feel a loss when you lose someone whom had such an impact on our lives. Be kind to each other and remember you are all the only family you have left. Don’t think of what Don would do when making decisions, think of what would make him proud.
Don Sparky Spracklin, you will be missed and on behalf of my family, we thank you for sharing part of your life with ours and rest well my friend. I know you will be busy where you are now because they have been waiting for a guy like you!
Love Chris & Susan Dunn
