It’s the end of this great road.
With an exciting life behind him, Donald passed into orbit at 92 years of age. Donald travelled a great many miles as a World War II Air Force Officer, and then as an exceptional News Media and Public Relations man, most notably through more than 20 years with the Edmonton Sun. His travels took him to live and work throughout Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, the Philippines, Cuba, Trinidad, Tobago, the Bahamas, Alaska, and many other extraordinary locations.
Donald leaves to mourn, and to carry on his legacy, his wife Wendy; their five children, Richard (Sarah), Cathy, Susan (Marc), Cindy, and Kelly (Alex), and his five grandchildren, Noah, Bridget, Eve, Alice, and Theodore. Donald is also survived by his brother Kenny; his sister in law Elsie, and his dog Keichi.
Donald was predeceased by his grandson, Baby MacKay; his parents, Clara Martha and James; his sister Dorothy, and his brothers Jim, Douglas, and Howard.
A special thank you to all of the staff at Millwoods Shepherd’s Care Centre for their kindness and support to Donald during his final years.
Cremation has already taken place. Celebration of life services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Salvation Army Edmonton Temple, 9115 75 St NW.
In lieu of flowers, please put that money towards travel, to support a loved one, or to buy a bottle of Captain Morgan rum. Donald loved life and squeezed every ounce he could out of it, and he would want you to do the same.
