Donald Ernest Keer

KEER, Donald Ernest
October 3, 1925 – October 30, 2015

A gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather died peacefully in his bed, of a heart attack on October 30, 2015. Don was born to Francis and Martha Keer in Claresholm. He received his early schooling in Fort Macleod. He joined the Air Force and later went to work for the Alberta Department of Transportation from where he retired in 1984. He met his wife Elby in Fort Macleod and they travelled the province in a trailer surveying for highway construction, finally settling in Edmonton. After retirement they enjoyed travelling – none so much as the trips with grandchildren in their motorhome.

Don was predeceased by his parents and brother George. He leaves to survive him his wife Elby, daughter Linda, son Doug, grandchildren Jean Broderick, Danielle Iglesias (Albert) and Lindsay Oligny (Aaron) of Edmonton and Ben and Devin Keer of Thailand. He also leaves great-grandchildren Olivia and Zoe Iglesias and Charlize and Grayson Oligny.

It was Don’s wish that there not be a funeral. If so desired donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice or to: The Elby Keer Award at Grant McEwan University (10700-104 Avenue, Edmonton, T5J 4S2).

We had lots of great visits. Uncle Don was always so up beat and interesting. It was exciting when we went with him to the local pub to see the Stanley Cup, one of the times that the Oilers had a winning season. Those were the days!!!
It is now Christmas time so as tradition Uncle Dons and Auntie Elbys photo is proudly displayed on our dining room wall. Photo from 2000. We think of you often.
Love Val
