It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dennis MacDonald. He is lovingly remembered by his family and many friends, and by his great humility, kindness and generosity. Born and raised in Lougheed, Alberta, he moved at an early age to Edmonton, where he resided the rest of his life.
Dennis’s career led through many paths, mainly as a salesman, but he did say that, “I was at the Texaco refinery the day it opened, and I was there the day it closed down”. Through retirement, Dennis enjoyed spending time with his wife Faye, at home, at the lake, golfing, skiing, and travelling the world. There was not much he would not try.
Dennis will be missed by his loving wife Faye, sister Germaine of Caledon, Ontario, sons Ross (Dianna) MacDonald of Calgary, Craig (Theresa) MacDonald, Larry (Cheryl) MacDonald, Brian (Cheryl) McTurk, Darryl (Allison) McTurk, Colin (Lorraine) McTurk, and daughter Tracy Sutherland (Jim Georget), all of Edmonton.
Also missing Grandpa will be Lauren and Sean MacDonald (Alicia), Carson and Connor MacDonald, Ken Wilton (Amanda), Carla McTurk (Cory), Shannon McTurk (Dirk), Michael and Matthew McTurk, Amanda (David) Ward, Christy Sutherland (Travis), and Amy Sutherland (Jason).
Dennis accomplished much in his life, but he will be remembered by his kindness and compassion towards others. He was involved with many charitable organizations in his time and always lent his hand as a volunteer.
A celebration of life will be held for Dennis at Resurrection Catholic Church, 10555 – 50A Street Edmonton, at 1:00 p.m. Friday June 27, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, please send your donations to The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Edmonton Area, or a charity of your choice.
