Deeley, Marie Lorraine (nee Oswald)

With sad hearts, the family of Marie announce her passing on May 17, 2020 at the age of 83.   She was predeceased by her husband Jim Deeley, parents Julius and Alma Oswald of Leduc, two brothers Gordon (Barb) Oswald and Ken Oswald.   She is survived by her two daughters Sandi Davey, Jackie (Shane) Trewin, a son Greg (Diane), eight grandchildren, and two sisters Janice Miller and Gladys (Bob) Wilson.

Marie was the oldest of five children who were born and raised on their family farm in Leduc county.  She was a nurturer who helped care for her siblings when her mother was ill and while her parents were working out on the farm.  She loved small animals, her family and was not afraid of hard work.  When Marie was a young woman she moved to Edmonton, and while working at Woodwards met Jim. They were married July 2, 1958.

Jim’s career with Canadian Pacific Railway took the growing family to Lethbridge, Calgary and back to Edmonton.  In the mid ’80’s Jim’s transfer took them to Kamloops and Vancouver B.C. This prospered Marie’s love of golfing, gardening and socializing.  When Jim retired in the late ’80’s they returned to Edmonton and Marie worked at both Costco and Sobey’s demonstrating food products until she retired at age 80.

During Marie’s later years she cherished time spent with her grandchildren whom called her Oma, setting puzzles, and participating in activities at Northgate Lions Seniors Center.

My older sister , Marie, who was caring and thoughtful. She lived much of her life working hard ….socializing, and
was always generous in her love with caring for others in many ways. Always helpIng her children and grandkids.

She was a cancer survivor years ago ,however, suffered with other health issues as well cancer again. She struggled with hopes of beating the odds, not to be. Her pain and suffering is finally over. She will be missed by her immediate family. I will think of her often and cherish the memories. So will my children .

RIP until we meet again! Your loving sister, Janice and family
