Debra Ann Husack

With great sadness we announce that on March 17, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Debra Ann Husack passed away at the Leduc Community Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was 60 years old.
Debra fought every day with optimism and courage. Through it all, she continued to see the good in everything and was a source of strength for everyone around her. She never stopped smiling.
You don’t lose your battle if you never stopped fighting!
Debra will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her fiancé Gary; her children Seanna (Craig), Tara (Greg), James/J.J. (Shane), and Johnathon (Eileen); Gary’s children Robb (Anathea), Brandie (David), Sarah (Ryan); her grandchildren Jensen, Ryanne, Sophie and Harper; Gary’s grandchildren Evan and Lily; sisters Brenda (Ed), Colleen (Carl) and Terry; Aunts Helen (Daryl), Amelia (Ted), and Agnes; Uncle Bill; Debra’s children’s father Kenneth; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Debra was predeceased by her parents John and Stephanie (Stella); niece Stephanie; and nephew Michael.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at Debra & Gary’s lake lot later this summer. Interment will take place at a later date in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton or to Leduc Home Care.
Debra’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at the Cross Cancer Institute for their support during her courageous fight – especially Dr. King. A very special thank you to Leduc Home Care. Debra developed special friendships with each of her home care nurses – friendships which she valued and cherished. Lastly, thank you to the nurses at the Leduc Community Hospital for making Debra’s final hours so comfortable, and for the genuine compassion showed toward her family.
“Just take my hand, together we can do it,
I’m gonna love you through it.”

It is with deep sadness and shock we learn of Debbie’s untimely passing. A great friend we knew well in Athens, Greece 1980-1983. . A beautiful woman who made other women want to be like her. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. She had a remedy for any cold, toothache, scrape or sunburn. She had a generosity she shared freely to make anyone’s life overseas easier. I was honoured to be trusted with care of Seanna and Tara while she made a trip home to Canada. Her morning coffee was always on, a visit always enjoyed. I use the linen you brought me from Ireland, Deb. It takes me back to “our days abroad” We lost touch over the years, the memories are still as dear. To those she loved and to those that loved her we think of you at this very sad time. To Debbie’s children ~ love and courage. Beth and Bruce Lawson

My thoughts are with Gary and the rest of the family. Deb lived across the road from my mum and dads house in Leduc, she was a really down to earth caring person. Full of life and laughter, a genuine kind soul. I’ll miss waiving and saying hello from across the street. RIP Deb, it was a pleasure knowing you.

It has been an honour and pleasure to have been one of many of us at Leduc Home Care to have cared for Deb through these last 2 years or so. Our 3xweek visits became time to share news, get advice, learn new cooking tips, learn of the latest Sentsy product or fragrance, catch up, chat, learn somthing new from this incredibly brave lady. I will miss our chats, how she would tease my accent or phrases, she’d just giggle….always a hug at the end. Always positive, always thinking of others. I’m not sure what I’ll do with out my regular visits to Deb….I can only begin to imagine the hole she has left in the lives of her beautiful family and friends. As I wispered in her ear before I said goodbye….she will always light up my house and make it smell nice. All of us at Leduc Home Care are better for knowing Deb and we will miss her greatly. Love and thoughts to all of her wonderful family.

I was blessed to spend some time and reconnect again with my cousin Deb…I remember leaving my first visit in awe of how selfless and caring she is and how positive she remained thru all her illness.
I pray that spirit lives on thru her children and I know she will be watching over you all. Bless you in this time of sorrow. Our prayers are with you all.

Our thoughts are with Gary and all the family, Will miss your wave and shout ,hello and big smile from across the road, thanks for being our friend , and wonderful neighbour, R.I.P. Deb xx Linda David and Family.
