It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Garner announces that on December 24, 2016, at the age of 48 Dean lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Dean was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 17, 1968. He attended Vincent Massey Elementary School, Mount Royal Collegiate and went on to graduate from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 with an Engineering Degree. In 1993 he moved to Alberta to work in an oil field servicing company and at the time of his passing was working for Agrium. On August 17, 1996 he married Sandra (Sam) Thode and gained an instant family, 2 stepdaughters Stephanie and Vanessa. They had a daughter together, Abigail who was born on February 19, 1998.
Dean was predeceased by his grandparents Frank & Irene Garner, MaryAnn and Carl Basler, Philip and Anne Lindenbach; foster grandparents John and Sarah Letkeman; father-in-law Leonard Thode; nephew Richard Timothy Garner. Dean is survived by his loving wife Sandra; daughter Abigail; Step-daughters Stephanie and husband Lee Clement, Vanessa and husband Jason Gabert; grandchildren Carter, Madison, Brooke, Reece and Parson; mother Minnie Garner of Saskatoon and father Wayne and Eunice Garner of Regina; brother Curtis Garner; nephew Alex Blume, and mother-in-law Ann Thode.
Respecting Dean’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 9909-90 street, Fort Saskatchewan with Pastor Vince Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, Albert Cancer Foundation.
