Dawne (Isabel Kay) Hnatiuk

The family of Dawne Hnatiuk is deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing at the age of 88.

Born in Edmonton, Grammy/Gammy was a never-failing source of love and acceptance to all who had the good fortune to know her.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Lynda, Mark (Kim), Jim (Lesley), Heather (Carlos); her grandchildren: Tegan (Andy), Joss (Jen), Arielle (Andy), Andrea, Gracia; her great-grandson Benson; and many, many other friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Hnatiuk.

Dawne had a special way of making everyone she met smile, because the first thing they were greeted with was hers. Although shy by nature, her kindness could be sensed immediately and everyone who knew her remarked on it. Her greatest joy was her family, for whom she always created a safe space of unconditional love. Her personal journey of self-discovery was a source of inspiration to all who shared in it. She enjoyed feeding the birds and noticing flowers, blue skies and stars.

A Celebration of her Life is planned for the Spring.

“The only thing that matters in life is love.” ~ Dawne Hnatiuk

Your mother and grandmother was a wonderful person who will be missed by everyone who knew her. I visited with her at the Grey Nuns Hospital. She never lost her loving approach to everyone around her. My condolences.
