I have known Darla since we were both 8 years old, & Cliff for almost as long. We grew up together in Creighton, SK … where we managed to get into mischief together many times. We attended the Salvation Army together throughout our teen years, & never lost contact with both she & Cliff, visiting them many times in Calgary, Morinville, & Kelowna. Darla was Maid-of-Honour at my wedding. My previous spouse gave Kirk his very first haircut … Kirk was terrified & cried throughout the procedure.
Harvey & Irene were like parents to us all, & their home was our second home … where we spent many Saturday nights around their kitchen table playing “spoon.” We are heartbroken for Cliff & the entire family. They have lost an amazing wife, sister, mother, grandmother, & friend. We have all lost an amazing friend. The best.
In closing I just can’t resist telling you that when we were teens, Darla used to frequently tell us (us girls) that she “couldn’t wait to be able to wear smocks” … Julie & Kirk, that’s how much your mother loved & wanted you.
Rest in peace, my very special friend of 64 years. And Cliff, we won’t forget about you either. We will see you again in July.
With love from Viv & Ross.
