Danuta Bubel

Danuta Bubel

Polish Writer

1930 – 2018

Danuta Irena Bubel (nee Jacyszyn) was born in Warsaw, 1930, to Kazimierz Jacyszyn and Cecylia Lukasiewicz. She had one loving sister, Alicia Lewczuk. Danuta survived the Second World War, escaped a communist government, and made a life for herself in Canada. She married Joseph Bubel in 1961; two children, Anna and Mark, followed shortly thereafter.

Danuta dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her writing. A proud Pole and prolific writer, Danuta produced numerous tomes of poetry and prose. Danuta was an accomplished cook; an interpreter of dreams; a frugal home economist; a persistent optimist; a world traveller; and a fervent believer. She valued hospitality, generosity, friendship and creativity. Her grandson, Fabian, was the last great love of her life.

Danuta mourned the loss of her husband and walked the torturous road of dementia the last decade of her life. She died peacefully, surrounded by love and family. Halleluiah. Free at last!
