COTTIER, Judith

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to a dear daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Judith passed away peacefully in her home, with family by her side on January 3, 2021. Judy worked at Safeway for 40 years and was respected and appreciated by her co-workers and customers. She loved books, four legged friends, and flowers. She had a generous heart and raised funds for many good causes. She touched many lives and made the world a better place. There is now a Judy size hole in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the doctors, palliative care team and Judy’s wonderful neighbours Tammy and Val for their compassionate and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s name may be made to the Alberta SPCA, Foodbank, or a charity of your choice.

I have been shopping at Milbourne Safeway since they opened their doors. I have known Judy since she started working for Safeway. She was always very professional and very helpful with any issue that I would address. She always made things right.

Over time we got to know one another. I would periodically spend time with her on her breaks up until the time that she recently retired. I also socialized with her after hours in the early years along with both of our late husbands. She had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. I enjoyed the many times I spent with her. She will be truly missed!

My heart has broken in losing my long time friend and neighbour. You were the best gardening partner and wonderful friend. Gone much too soon. My Mika welcomed all the treats and attention. You touched people more than you ever knew. My family snd I will forever miss you. May you rest in eternal peace my beautiful friend.

Judy hired me 15 years ago after I walked into my interview with my 1 yr old in tow as I had no day sitter. She was willing to give me shifts to work around being a single mom. Without the opportunity that this angel gave me, I don’t know where I would be today. It was always a pleasure to see her smiling face in passing after I moved on from Safeway. She will be greatly missed by so many. Rest peacefully my friend

I worked with Judy at the Milbourne Safeway, and it was a great pleasure working with Judy. We both enjoyed sharing our love of gardening and of our beloved pets. With Judy I also enjoyed our all to rare “girls night out”……we both enjoyed each others company….she will be truly missed!

Dear Family , I was the deli Manager in Millbourne for 9 years and knew Judy. We had many conversations ,laughs and fun and even gathered outside of work to socialize and enjoy each other’s company. She was a strong spunky lady who never beat around the bush and told it like it was, I admired her, a kind soft hearted soul. She is loved by many and will be missed. I am sad that she didn’t share her illness with people ,I could have showed my love respect and support along with prayers for her had I only known. No one should pass through life without knowing the ones who loved them. My condolences Rosalie Schneider- Brown❣️
