Clare passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital with family at her side. She was 83 years of age.
Clare is survived by her son Richard Tascona and five siblings: Ann Schmidt, Joe (Connie) Osterman, Marie Steltenpool, Ernie (Joan) Ostermann, and Ted Ostermann.
She was predeceased by one sister, Pauline Kruetzer.
Clare was the third child of a family of seven children. She was raised on a farm in Little Britain, Manitoba, a small farming community about 30 km north of Winnipeg. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Winnipeg. Clare worked at the Educational Media Department, Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta. She was head of the department that cataloged, wrote synopsis of films, and sent out educational films to schools and colleges all across Canada, mostly Alberta.
She loved to travel. She has travelled extensively throughout Europe and as far as Australia and Tasmania. She was a member of the Edmonton Bridge Club. She accumulated hundreds of master points playing duplicate bridge. Clare was an avid reader. She always had a book on the go. Often she exchanged three or four books at a time at the public library.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on March 9, 2018 at Serenity Funeral Service North Chapel, 10129 – Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton.
