It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Christine (Mercer) Chapella at Leduc, AB. At the young age of 61.
Christine (Chris) was born & raised in Corner Brook and Stephenville NF, and then settled in
Leduc Alberta with her partner Paul, but would always be a “Newfie” girl at heart. She was predeceased by
her mother Marie (Rowsell), and Father, Gerry Mercer.
Chris worked various jobs throughout her younger life, but she was a mother first and foremost.
She treasured her 3 children, step-son Corey (Leona) Chapella, son Jayson (Tamara) Mercer-
Allen, and daughter Amy (Nicole) Rusk. She embraced every moment with them and especially
loved her role as “Nanny” to 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In her own words they were her world!
She had a vivacious entertaining personality and even in her last days, made everyone around
her laugh. She made friends wherever she went and was easily loved.
She also leaves to mourn, her 3 loving sisters, Deborah (Joe) Cantwell, Joanne (Jim) Craig, and
Linda-Ray (Joe) Doyle, nieces, Leslie-Rae Tennant, Taylor Godin and nephews, Gerry Cantwell and Joshua Leamon.

Over the years I only met Chris twice through Corey who has been close as family to me for 20 years. But I knew her from all the stories Corey told and wasn’t disappointed when I did meet her she Definitely had a gift for the gab and when you did meet her she made you feel like you knew each other for years. My heart goes out to the entire family. I know how much she will be missed. Rest In Peace Chris.

To Paul, Jason, Linda and the rest of Mercer/Chapella Family.
It’s with great sadness that we learn of Chris’s passing.
Even though it’s been years since we’ve seen each other, I remember the kind hearted and funny person she was. Every time I pass the Manor in Stephenville, I always think of the many times spent there with her and Jason.. I have never forgotten you my friend. Rest In Peace.
