On May 9, 2017, our father, Charles Thomas Bell passed away at the Edmonton General Hospital hospice. He was 97 years old, and the last of his generation in our extended family. He was predeceased by his wife Betty (Margot), of 53 years, who passed away in 2009.
Chas is survived by his daughter, Katherine Bell, and her partner Laura Zucker, his son Russ (Jacqueline), grand children Daniel Bell, Janine and Ian Taylor, and Carolyn Bell and one great granddaughter, Ainsley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was born in the Adanac district of Saskatchewan in October 1919, the youngest of seven children. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II and settled in Edmonton after the war.
Charlie was an avid golfer and big baseball fan. He enjoyed good health until recently, golfing into his 90s and finally celebrating his only hole-in-one! He will be remembered by his golf partners and neighbours at Good Samaritan Place and at Rosedale.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Royal Canadian Legion.
