CAYER, Emma Josephine

Emma Josephine Marie Schaub was born at the family farm near Plamondon, Alberta, Canada, on March 22, 1943.

She grew up in Plamondon, but then moved to Edmonton in 1962 shortly after graduating high school. She soon met Gabriel Audy and they married in 1966, followed by the birth of their only child, Marc, in 1968.
Sadly, Gabriel passed that same year. Several years later in 1972, she married Maurice Cayer, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage, until the time of her passing.

As a young girl, she fell in love with art – especially drawing and painting – and that passion brought her comfort and joy throughout her entire life. In addition, she developed other passions like ceramics, quilting, photography, and traveling.
Emma was survived by her loving husband Maurice Cayer; her son Marc Audy; her remaining brother, sisters, and all of their immediate and extended families.

She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Florence Schaub; sisters: Louise Ulliac and Annette Hebert; brother Isadore Schaub; first husband Gabriel Audy; in-laws Noella Schaub, Audre Ulliac, Marcel Hebert, Lionel Hebert, Arthur St. Jean, and Wilfred Casavant.

Angele Hebert-Gunn

Dear auntie Emma, you left us so early. We all are struggling to say goodbye. You had such passion for life and all the beauty within. Your connection to family was astounding. I loved visiting with you and talking of our love of art, and just to hear your contagious laugh. You made such a genuine effort to know all your nieces and nephews. This was a great example of your kind heart. The love you expressed for Marc and uncle Moe did not go un-noticed, or unfelt. We will profoundly miss you. Go be with the angels and all of our predeceased loved ones, and paint the heavens all of your beautiful colours.
