DOMINEY, Catherine Elizabeth (nee MacDougall)
On September 21, 2015, Betty Dominey passed away, after bearing years of ill health with grace and good humour. She was born on November 28, 1933, to Christie and Dougall MacDougall of Inverness, Cape Breton.
At age 18, Betty moved to Halifax, where she met her true love, Ernest Stanley Dominey. But Ernie’s career with Imperial Oil Marine Department meant much time apart, so after marrying on August 26, 1955, Ernie and Betty drove out west. Both found work in Edmonton and decided to stay.
Betty was an extraordinarily loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and genuinely nice to everyone she met. She was a proud Cape Bretoner, and always waved to people with Nova Scotia plates. Those who knew her will never forget her kindness, warmth, and sunny disposition.
Betty leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 60 years Ernie; children Erna (Jack), Andrea (Gary), and Jeannie (Mark); grandchildren Stella Maris (Kevin), Clayton, Markus, and Elizabeth, as well as her cherished relatives and friends in Nova Scotia.
A Prayer Service will be held at 8:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Resurrection Parish, 10555-50 A Street NW, Edmonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CapitalCare CHOICE Mental Health Programme.
