A Native Prayer
O Great Spirit,
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me!
I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom.

Let Me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands, respect the things you have made, and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise, so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Let me learn, the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
But to fight my greatest enemy – myself.

Make me always ready, to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit will come to you without shame.

I made a typo in my message, I’d see Marie Mondays and Thursdays not Tuesdays and Fridays, I must have seen her shortly before she passed, I had to come that Tuesday she passed instead of Monday, I just remember her telling me about her day and that she was tired, she will be missed!

Marie was a beloved client of mine, Tuesdays and Fridays were the days I’d see Marie, she loved to talk about her family all the time. She talked about her life growing up, how small she was and how everyone called her baby, she had a very loving family and very good childhood. She spoke many times about her husband and their travels, she loved him so very much. She would talk about her nursing career and talked about the day the tornado hit and how she was called back into work, there were so SO many things we’d talk about. Marie always asked about my family as well, always had a smile on her face. I will miss dear sweet Marie. Rest in peace dear sweet Marie, You will be very missed!
