Calvin Millard died peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016. He is survived by his wife Gail (nee Bowen), his brother Larry, and his sisters Sandra Hearn and Kathleen Ward; his daughter Dallas (Ian Istvanffy), his daughter Denise (Armin Shafai), his daughter Gwen (Tony Munser), his son Alllan (Julie Carriere) and his son Glen (Cathy Perrier); his grandchildren: Pamela Clark Harnett (Mark), Leah , Simon Ducharme, Jordan, Nathan, Mikayla, Laila and Bita Shafai and his great grandsons Anthony Harnett and Connor Ducharme. He will also be missed by Gail’s children: Nolan Losness (Louise) and Joleen Losness (Allan Psutto); and the granddhildren: Caleb, Brooke, Katie and Anna. Cal served for 25 years in the Royal Canadian navy, spending 5 years in UK, before retiring to work in the Electronics Industry. After moving to Alberta in 1989 to work for Square D, he joined St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. He and Gail were actively involved in assisting refugee families settle into Canadian life in the Edmonton area. In his earlier years in Edmonton he became quite famous in his circle of friends for his wine making. Cal will be sorely missed for his generosity and wonderful story telling. The Funeral is scheduled on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St John the Evangelist Church in Edmonton, at 11111 57 Ave. Cal’s remains will later be interred to the Atlantic Ocean in a Naval Ceremony Celebrating the Battle of the Atlantic, from the deck of HMCS Sackville: according to his wishes. The family wish to thank the staff at Choices and Villa Caratis and Dickensfield care centers for their outstanding care and compassion.
