Burke, James Clifford

-

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of Jim on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Surviving his loss are his son, Brock Burke and his daughter, Lila (Murray) Holtner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and twin baby sons.

Jim was born in Wetaskiwin January 25, 1927. His family moved to Edmonton and he grew up in the Norwood community. His love of people guided his career which he began with Scott National Fruit Company in travelling sales. There he met his soulmate Betty, at her father’s general store in New Norway. Jim and Betty married on May 5, 1956 and started their life together in Edmonton.

Throughout the years Jim’s entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to be the proprietor of many successful businesses; The Tuck Shop, The Golden Bear Restaurant, The Capilano Smoke and Hobby Shop to name a few.

His intelligence, quick wit and big heart will be remembered fondly by all those whose lives he touched. His retirement was spent with many friends cheering on his favourite sports teams, the Edmonton Eskimos and the Edmonton Oilers.

As per Dad’s wishes there will be no formal services. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
